Welcome to the website of the St. George Orthodox Church of India - Sacramento, California. We are a parish under the South-West America Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India. The Malankara Orthodox Church of India is an ancient church, which was established in Kerala, India, in 52 A.D. by the Apostle St. Thomas, one of the twelve disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.  It is also one of the thirty seven Apostolic churches dating from the time of the disciples of Christ.

Also known as the Orthodox Church of India, it is under the leadership of the Catholicos of the East with its headquarters at Devalokam in Kerala, India.
The Malankara Orthodox Church belongs to the family of the Oriental Orthodox Churches, which include the Armenian, Coptic, Ethiopian, Eritrean and the Syrian Orthodox Churches, and then to the wider stream of the world's Orthodox Churches.

The Sacramento parish of the Malankara Orthodox Church enables those who live in the Greater Sacramento area in Northern California, to participate in Orthodox worship and services. Rev. Fr. Dr. Mathai Alakot ministers to the parish in the Sacramento area.
